little india, jackson heights

went for lunch at an indian buffet in jackson heights. i bumped into some kind of celebration where they shut down the street and had a mini street fair. honestly, at times i felt like i was at jalan masjid india except for the cool temperature and the way everybody was dressing. it looked so colorful and lively with bhangra music in the background. one cannot find this kind atmosphere any where in new york.

This was the Jackson Heights Merchants’ Association’s Vaisakhi Mela, and I was there too. Read about the holiday on Wikipedia and elsewhere.
